Marijuana Laws In New York
We totally understand why some New Yorkers are rolling their eyes at the current marijuana laws. New York is one of the most liberal states in America, and yet, only medical marijuana is legal and accessible to some patients. It’s about time Governor Cuomo did something about the current laws.
Because New York has many liberal boroughs, you might think that recreational marijuana is legal in the state of New York…but you’d be wrong, unfortunately. Despite its progressive laws, New York hasn’t legalized recreational use yet. But it’s just a matter of time! We hope to live in an America where marijuana is legal in all 50 states, which could happen by the year 2020. You never know. We choose to remain hopeful and optimistic when it comes to marijuana laws in North America and around the world.

Can I Grow Marijuana At Home?
Currently, in the state of New York, it’s illegal to grow your own marijuana plants at home. New Yorkers have long heard from Governor Cuomo that recreational marijuana would soon be legalized, but nothing has sprung into action quite yet. Be patient, New Yorkers! Cuomo is adamant about legalizing marijuana in New York.
Most people see New York as a highly liberal state. One could think that New York has similar laws to California when it comes to marijuana, when in fact, New York currently only offers medical marijuana. Recreational use is not yet legal. With a valid medical card and/or doctor’s prescription, locals may purchase marijuana at their local dispensary.
But guess what? You can buy marijuana seeds from Mom Seed Bank without a medical prescription as long as you’re 21-years old. We can always find the silver lining. Even though you cannot grow marijuana in New York (yet!), the laws are always changing and moving forward. The New York City mayor mentioned multiple times to the media that marijuana legalization is at the top of his list. At this point, we all have to keep our cool, remain patient, and find the positives wherever we can! At least medical marijuana is available to certain patients!
